Martha was born in 1865.1   Martha's father was David H. Devore and her mother was Mary Welch.  Her maternal grandparents were Richard Welch and Elizabeth Leach. She had four brothers named James, Henry, Arthur and Charles.  She was the third oldest of the five children.1
