Mary A. was born about 1848 in SC.1 Mary A.'s father was John Gideon Dean and her mother was Celestria A. J.. Her paternal grandparents were Allen Jones Dean and Sarah Thial. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Robert Wilson, Richard A., John H., Samuel, Sarah T., Judith and Jane. She was the third oldest of the eight children.1 -
