John was born on July 4th, 1770 in Shutesbury, MA..1 John's father was Ebenezer Briggs and his mother was Silence Redding. His paternal grandparents were Ebenezer Briggs and Margery Leonard. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Wirium, Life, Ebenezer, Amash, Sarah, Silence, Perley and Salley. He was the oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 44 on April 18th, 1815 in Amherst, MA..1 -
