Douglas Bowie was born on December 13th, 1893 in Screven Co., GA.1   Douglas Bowie's father was Jesse H. Beard and his mother was Sarah A. Bazemore.  His paternal grandparents were Jesse Beard and Louisa Pengree; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Bazemore and Elizabeth J. Taylor. He had four brothers and eight sisters, named Joseph Luther, Perry, Tom, Willie, Ida, Nellie, Jennie, Catherine, Audrey Ivanetta, Jessie, Laura and Dora. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Allen, Lamar and Carrie.  He died at the age of 73 on March 14th, 1967.  He was buried in Screven Co., GA.1 1
