Sally Traverse was born on October 16th, 1812.1 Sally Traverse's father was Lund Washington and her mother was Susan Monroe Grayson. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Washington and Alice Strother; her maternal grandparents were Spence Grayson and Mary Elizabeth Wagoner. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Lund, Thomas, Peter Grayson, William Grayson, Benjamin Strother, Robert, Samuel Smith, Susan Jean, Mary Elizabeth, Sally Hay and Mary Mason. She was the second youngest of the twelve children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Peter George, Littleton Quinton and Mary Mason.-
