Philip's father was Pierre II De Courtenay and his mother was Yolande of Flanders. His paternal grandparents were Pierre I De Courtenay and Elizabeth Isabelle De Courtenay; his maternal grandparents were Baldwin V Von Hennegau and Margarethe Von Flandern. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Henry, Baldwin II of, Robert, Eleanor, Yolande, Agnes, Elizabeth, Margaret and Marie. He had a half-sister named Maud. He died in 1226.General Notes
