Mechtild Von was born about 1390. Mechtild Von's father was Ludolf VIII Von Steinfurt and her mother was Lukkard Von Holstein-Schauenburg. Her paternal grandparents were Balduin III Von Steinfurt and Mechtild Van Arkel; her maternal grandparents were Otto Von Holstein-Schauenburg and Mathilde Guelph. She was an only child.
