Jasper was born on April 25th, 1841 in IL.  Jasper's father was Phillip Shipton and his mother was Lucinda Halcomb.  His paternal grandfather is Peter Shipton and his paternal grandmother was Elizabeth Easton. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Phillip Marion, Samuel Andrew, Louis, Newton, Sarah Ann, Almira, Eliza, Arzilla and Mary Lucinda.  He was the fourth youngest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 59 in 1900 in IA.
