Joan was born in October 1165 in Angers, France.  Joan's father was Henry II+ Plantagenet and her mother was Alianor D'+ Aquitaine.  Her paternal grandparents were Geoffroi V Plantagenet D'+ Anjou and Matilda Of+ Normandy; her maternal grandparents were Guillaume X D'+ Aquitaine and Alianor De+ Chatellerault. She had five brothers and two sisters, named William, Henry, Richard I, Geoffroi II, John+, Matilda+ and Alienor+.  She was the second youngest of the eight children. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named William Of Longespee+, Marie+ and Alix+.  She died at the age of 33 on September 4th, 1199 in Rouen, Normandy.  She was buried in Fontevrault, France.

‌Joan and Raimond VI De were married in a religious ceremony in November 1196 in Rouen, Seine-Maritime, France.  They had a son named Raimond VII De.
