Her paternal grandparents were Edmund+ Mortimer and Margaret De+ Fiennes; her maternal grandparents were Pierre De+ Joinville and Jeanne De+ Lusignan. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Roger De+, Geoffroy De, Edmund De+, Margaret De+, Joan+, Blanche De+, Beatrice De+ and Agnes. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.
