His paternal grandfather was William De+ Fiennes and his paternal grandmother is Agnes+ Dammartin; his maternal grandparents are Jacques De+ Conde and Agnes De+ Roeulx. He had a brother and a sister, named Giles De+ and Maud De+. He was the oldest of the three children. He had three half-brothers named Reginald De, Robert De and Enguerrand De.
