Leroy Winston* was born on November 5th, 1878 in Pike or Dallas Co., MO. Leroy Winston*'s father was John D.* McKinsey and his mother was Rachel Ann* Ashbaugh. His paternal grandfather was Charles William* McKinsey and his paternal grandmother is Susan Ann Eads* Dameron; his maternal grandparents were Andrew* Ashbaugh and Margaret* McMillan. He had a brother and two sisters, named Laquell, Maggie P. and Jessie M.. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 75 on August 14th, 1954 in Ellensburg, Kittitas Co., WA.General Notes

1880 Census (Hurricane, Lincoln, MO - FHL Film # 1254699_ shows John D. and Rachel McKinsey. John's parents are both listed as born in Virginia. Winston is listed with siblings Laquell and Maggie. Jessie was not yet born.
1930 U.S. Federal Census for Gardena Precinct, Walla Walla, Washington shows 17-year-old Norman Mckinsey living with his father Winston (age 51 years) and grandmother Rachel A. (Ashbaugh) Mckinsey, who is head of household and apparently a widow. The census states that Winston was age 23 years at the time of first marriage, and lists him with a "D" for marital status, which I assume to mean he was divorced. Lists both parents as from Missouri.
1920 U.S. Federal Census for Walla Walla, Hill Precinct shows 42-year-old Winston L as head of household with wife Lillian E. (?). Living with them are Roy F. and Maria (G?) Whitaker. (stepson and step daughter-in-law).
"WWI Civilian Draft Registrations" shows that Winston was living in Idaho at the time of his military registration and his father lived in Walla Walla, Washington. It lists his birth as 11/5/1878 in Lewis Co., Washington, although the 1920 and 1930 census listings show him as born in Missouri.
Walla Walla, Washington Union-Bulletin Newspaper for Sunday, March 24, 1946 states in "Auditor Files Deeds to Land": "Carroll William Colwell et ux to LeRoy Winston McKinsey et ux, land in Headley's addition."
