Henry III Lee 
Henry III was born on January 19th, 1756 in Dumfries, Prince William, VA and his baptism took place there. Henry III's father was Henry II Lee and his mother was Lucy Grymes. His paternal grandparents were Henry I Lee and Mary Bland; his maternal grandparents were Charles Grymes and Frances Jennings. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Richard Bland, Charles, Theodorick, Edmund Jennings, Mary, Lucy and Ann. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 62 on March 25th, 1818 in Cumberland Island, GA. He was buried in Washington & Lee University, Lexington, VA.General Notes
"A daring cavalry officer, he fought in the Carolina campaign after 1780. He was Governor of Virginia for 3 terms. 'On April 11, 1809 he was arrested for debt and imprisioned in the Westmoreland County jail. He was arrested again before the year was over and sent to the Spotsylvania prison.' There he wrote his memoirs. When he got out of prison in 1810 he moved his wife Ann Carter and their children into a little house on Cameron Street in Alexandria, Virginia. His memoirs were published in 1812 by a Philadelphia publisher. In the late summer of 1813 after suffering near-fatal wounds and facial mutilation inflicted by a mob, he went to the warmer climate of Barbados. He died in 1818 while (en) route home at Dungeness on Cumberland Island, Georgia, the home of an old friend."
