Mary was born on May 11th, 1777 in Chatham Co., NC. Mary's father was Charles Hobson and her mother was Sarah Beck. Her paternal grandparents were George+ Hobson and Hannah Elizabeth+ Kinneson; her maternal grandparents were Jeffry Beck and Lydia Phillips. She had five brothers and seven sisters, named Isaac, Jesse, George, Charles Jr., Joshua, Hannah, Lydia, Susannah, Jane, Phebe, Rebecca and Sarah.
