Mary was born on February 15th, 1801 in Grayson Co., VA. Mary's father was Jonathan Hiatt and her mother was Rachel Williams. Her paternal grandparents are John Hiatt and Sarah Hodgson; her maternal grandfather was Silas Williams and her maternal grandmother is Mary Hunt. She had three brothers named John, Silas and Josiah.
