"Faris (1999, p. 210): [quote] THOMAS DARCY, Knt., K.G., of Temple Hurst, co. York, son and heir, was born about 1467 (aged twenty-one and more at his father's death). He was married for the first time to
DOWSABEL TEMPEST, daughter and heiress of Richard Tempest, Knt., of Giggleswick in Ribblesdale, co. York, by Mabel, daughter of Walter Strickland, of Sizergh, Westmorland (descendant of Charlemagne). They had three sons and one daughter. She was living in 1503. He was summoned to
Parliament, certainly from 17 Oct. 1509, by writs directed Thome Darcy de Darcy Chl'r, whereby he became Lord Darcy of Temple Hurst. He was married for the second time before 1520 to EDITH SANDYS, widow of Ralph Neville, and daughter of William Sandys, Knt., of the Vyne in Sherborne St. John,
and Andover, co. Hants, by Margaret, daughter of John Cheney, Knt., of Shurland in the Isle of Sheppey, Kent. They had one daughter. She died at Stepney on 22 Aug. 1529, and was buried at the Friars Observants, Greenwich. He joined in Aske's rebellion, called the Pilgrimage of Grace, and was convicted of high treason on the charge of delivering up Pontefract Castle to the rebels. THOMAS DARCY, Lord Darcy of Temple Hurst, was beheaded on Tower Hill on 30 June 1537, and was buried at St.
