Arthur was born about 1510 in Aston, Yorkshire, England. Arthur's father was Thomas Darcy and his mother is Dowsabel Tempest. His paternal grandfather was William Darcy and his paternal grandmother is Euphemia Langton; his maternal grandparents are Richard Tempest and Mabel Strickland. He had a brother named George.
