Conyers was born in 1570 in Hornby Castle, Yorkshire, England. Conyers' father was Thomas Darcy and his mother is Elizabeth Conyers. His paternal grandparents were Arthur Darcy and Mary Carew; his maternal grandfather was John Conyers and his maternal grandmother is Maud Clifford. He was an only child.
