Thomas was born on May 3rd, 1773. Thomas' father was John Lyon and his mother was Mary Eleanor Bowes. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Lyon and Jean Nicholson; his maternal grandfather was George Bowes and his maternal grandmother is Mary Gilbert. He had a brother named John. He was the younger of the two children. He died at the age of 73 on August 27th, 1846 in Holyrood House, Edinburgh, Scotland.
