John Ashbaugh 
John was born on June 6th, 1782 in Hagerstown, MD. John's father was Frederick* Ashbaugh and his mother was Sophia* Sells. His paternal grandfather was Johann Heinrich Eschbach and his paternal grandmother is Maria Elizabetha Merck; his maternal grandparents were Anthony* Sells and Catherine* Schneider. He had five brothers and two sisters, named David, Andrew*, Thomas, William, Frederick Oliver, Susan and Catherine. He was the youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 71 on October 18th, 1853 in Millerberg, Mercer Co., IL.General Notes
