Belle Ashbaugh 
Belle was born on March 25th, 1861 in Nelson Co., KY. Belle's father was James Christopher Ashbaugh and her mother was Suellen Elender Thompson. Her paternal grandparents were David Ashbaugh and Catherine Shoptaugh. She had five brothers and seven sisters, named John William, Frederick, George Edward, Joseph H., Thomas, Anne E., Mary Jane, Julia, Verlinda, Eliza Ann, Mariah and Missouri. She was the youngest of the thirteen children. She died at the age of 66 on February 22nd, 1928. She was buried in Ridgeview Cemetery.General Notes
According to Rev. Ashbaugh's notation, Belle went to work for a John Sedley Downs to assist with the children since his wife's "mind is affected--insane." A relationship apparently developed, and John and Belle had seven children. Belle never married J. S. Downs. (also cites: 1880 Bullitt Co, KY Census.)
