Foulques was born on June 21st, 0967 in Anjou, France.  Foulques' father was Count Geoffrey ("Grisegonelle") d'Anjou I and his mother was Adelais de Vermandois.  His paternal grandparents were Duke Fulk ("le Bon") d'Anjou II of Brittany and Gerberge du Maine; his maternal grandparents were Count Robert of Meaux & Troyes and Countess Adelaide of Burgundy. He had a sister named Ermengarde.  He was the younger of the two children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named "the Black", "le Noir" and Gerberga.  He died at the age of 73 in 1040 in Anjou, France.
