Olaf Cuaran's father was King Sihtric Caoch ("Silken Beard", "the Squint-eyed") II of Dublin & York and his mother was Princess Edith of England.  His paternal grandfather was King Sigurd Ivarsson of Dublin; his maternal grandparents were King Edward ("the Elder") d'Angleterre I of England and Ecgwyn of Wessex. He had a brother named Harald.  He died in 0981 in Iona.
