Mabel de was born about 1155 in Clare,Suffolk,England.  Mabel de's father was Roger "The Good" 5th Earl de Clare and her mother was Maud or Matilda de St. Hilary du Harcouet.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard de Clare , 1st Earl of Hertford ' and Adeliza de Guernons Countess de Meschines; her maternal grandparents were James Sidonis de St. Hilary Lord and Aveline de St. Hilary. She had five brothers and seven sisters, named Richard  "Strongbow" 4th Earl, Richard (Sir) 6th Earl, James de, Roger de, Henry de, Maud Matilda de, Joane de, Elena de, Aveline de, Aveline, Eveline (Aveline) de ' and Mabel. She had seven half-brothers and five half-sisters, named James, Roger, Henry, William III, Hugh II, Alan, Godfrey, Mable, Eveline, Cecily, Avice Agnes de Arundel and Joan.  She died in 1203 in England.1
