Mable was born about 1163 in Clare, Suffolk, Eng..¹ Mable's father was Roger "The Good" 5th Earl de Clare and her mother was Maud de Saint Hilary. Her paternal grandparents were Richard de Clare , 1st Earl of Hertford ' and Adeliza de Guernons Countess de Meschines; her maternal grandparents were James du Harcourt de St. Hilary and Aveline (de St. Hilary). She had three brothers and a sister, named James, Roger, Henry and Eveline. She had seven half-brothers and eight half-sisters, named Richard "Strongbow" 4th Earl, Richard (Sir) 6th Earl, James de, Roger de, Henry de, William V Earl of Arundel, Alan, Mabel de, Maud Matilda de, Joane de, Elena de, Aveline de, Aveline, Eveline (Aveline) de ' and Mabel. She died before 1172.¹
