John Smiley

John was born about 1844 in Breckinridge Co., Kentucky.¹   John's father was William Smiley and his mother was Nancy Sealey. He had five brothers named George, Harrison Thomas, Elijah, Benjamin and Sylvester.  He was the second oldest of the six children. He had seven half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Seth W., Abner, Edward Franklin, Samuel M., James N. 'Jim', Charles L., Robert P., Louisiana and Sarah Jane.  He died about 1925.¹
