William Porter

William was born on April 9th, 1783 in Orange Co., Virginia.¹   William's father is Abner Porter and his mother is Hanna Ingram.  His paternal grandfather was Benjamin Porter and his paternal grandmother is Mary Ann Campbell; his maternal grandparents are John Ingram and Elizabeth Hawkins. He had six brothers and six sisters, named Alexander, Abner, Alexander, George, Benjamin F., Samuel S., Frances, Elizabeth Hawkins, Lucy, Maria, Nancy C. and Verlinda Alexander.  He is the sixth youngest of the thirteen children.
