Samuel Wiley was born in 1823 in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania.1 Samuel Wiley's father was John Means and his mother was Susannah Whitesell. His paternal grandparents were Adam Means and Margaret Hutchinson; his maternal grandparents are Jacob Weitzel and Catherine Markley. He had five brothers and a sister, named Courtney W., Jacob Whitesell, Joseph Markle, Lithgow, John Whitesell and Susan. He is the oldest of the seven children.General Notes
