[basham.ged] Information in Correspondence from Maureen Swanson 4/20/1998 Joseph went to British Columbia in 1862 via - stage to Detroit - t ra in to New York - boat to Panama - railroad to Pacific - boat to Victo ri a, B.C. (one way and 6 weeks). After 15 years of prospecting he retu rn ed to Leamington for a 2 - 3 month visit. He returned the California R ail way from the West and met the middle Western Railway, which had jo in ed it in 1868. Joseph married in the West, and some of his descenden ts st ill reside in Mission City and Victoria, B.C. Joseph had 3 childr en - Gow an, Thomas and Margery. The sons lived in British Columbia and h is daugh er lived in Seattle, Washington.
