Benton Dean 
Benton was born on July 14th, 1882 in Kipling, Harnett Co., North Carolina.1 Benton's father was Burwell Dean and his mother was Tilitha Jane Cotton. His paternal grandparents are Wilson Dean and Dolly Woodall; his maternal grandfather is Joseph Cotton and his maternal grandmother was Mary A. Truelove. He had a brother and a sister, named Thomas Franklin and Mary Louise. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 71 on January 28th, 1954.1 General Notes
