His paternal grandfather was Stephen Senter and his paternal grandmother is Mary Unknown; his maternal grandparents are Peter Avent and Amy Massey. He had four brothers named William, Drury, Aaron and James. He died in Fayetteville, Cumberland Co., North Carolina.1 General Notes
