William Joseph DeSpain 
William Joseph was born on March 19th, 1813 in Green Co., Kentucky.1 William Joseph's father was Peter DeSpain and his mother was Nancy Skaggs. His paternal grandfather was John DeSpain and his paternal grandmother is Susan Scott; his maternal grandfather was Henry Skaggs and his maternal grandmother is Mary Thompson. He had twelve brothers and four sisters, named John M., Hiram, William Marshall, Stephen, Mark, James Simpson, Harrison, Silas, Thomas, Andrew Drury, Edmund, George Washington, Susanna Elizabeth, Mary, Nancy and Lucy Ann. He had a half-brother named William Perry. He died at the age of 64 on December 22nd, 1877 in Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska.1 General Notes
