Joseph Alton Burney 
Joseph Alton was born on May 31st, 1904 in Hillboro, Hill Co., Texas.1 Joseph Alton's father was William Franklin Burney and his mother was Maggie Bell Ledford. His maternal grandparents were James Kenneth Ledford and Darnellie Juliar Basham. He had four brothers and three sisters, named William Travis, Opal Laremore Jack, Willie Bill Conner, Ralph Woodrow Chuck, Stella, Maggie Pearl and Ruby Lee. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 80 on October 30th, 1984 in Lubbock, Texas.1 General Notes
