Willie Belle was born on August 23rd, 1903 in Durant, Bryan Co., Okla.1 Willie Belle's father was Henry Lansford Bassham and her mother was Fannie 'Ida' Pettitt. Her paternal grandparents were Francis Marion (Frank) Bassham and Louisa Lucretia (Lucy) Popnoe. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Eugene Malcom (Gene), Jack Foster, Ralph Whitfield, Laudis, Stella Mae and Mary Alice. She is the third oldest of the seven children.General Notes
