Rufus Lycurgus Bassham 
Rufus Lycurgus was born on January 24th, 1868 in Lawrence Co., Tennessee.1 Rufus Lycurgus' father was James Monroe, Jr. Bassham and his mother was Susan Frances Legg. His paternal grandparents were James Monroe Bassham and Arta M. Holloway. He had three brothers and a sister, named Aramantha, Felix Edward, Warren Poindexter and Berah Celesta (Bessie). He was the oldest of the five children. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Hiram C., Levi Johnson, James Richard and Martha Elizabeth.
