William Lafe Basham 
William Lafe was born on January 11th, 1896 in Kentucky.1 William Lafe's father was James 'Clinton' Basham and his mother was Louella Thomas Mitchell. His paternal grandparents were William Francis Basham and Elizabeth West; his maternal grandfather was William Ninnian Mitchell and his maternal grandmother is Melinda Spears. He had a brother and seven sisters, named Elva Lee, Melinda Elizabeth, Flossie Miriam, Thena Isobel, Ada May, Lula Anna, Unnamed Infant and Ruby Margaret. He was the third oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 93 on April 6th, 1989.1 General Notes
