Anne Marie Margrethe Charlotte was born on September 12th, 1820 in Schleptrup, Germany.1 Anne Marie Margrethe Charlotte's father was Johann Heinrich Ballmann and her mother was Anne Marie Vortman. Her paternal grandparents were Johann Ernst Ballmann [bJohann Ernst Vullbrack] and Anne Adelheid Ballman; her maternal grandparents were Johann Gerhard Vortmann and Marie Elisabeth Tiemann. She had a brother and five sisters, named Johann Friedrich Wilhelm, Anne Marie Dorothee Elisabeth, Marie Adelheid, Anne Marie Engel, Anne Marie Henriette and Anne Marie Amalie. She was the fourth oldest of the seven children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Hermann Heinrich, Johann Heinrich, Anne Marie Elisabeth and Anne Marie Elisabein.1 -
