John Anderson Thornton 
John Anderson was born on November 30th, 1886 in Hales Gap, West Virginia.1 John Anderson's father was Andrew Matthew Thornton and his mother was Elizabeth Susan Comer. His maternal grandparents were Jacob Comer and Elizabeth Meadows. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Walter, William, Chester, Roy, Florence, Elizabeth, Dorae, Bessie and Eva. He was the fourth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 87 on May 10th, 1974. He was buried in New Zion Cemetery, West Virginia.2 1 General Notes
