Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Bailey and Priscilla Cooke. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Lewis Washington, Andrew Mathers, James Grant, Squire Ulysses Grant, Thomas H., John K., Mary Elizabeth and Fannie Belle. She was the oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 48 on July 3rd, 1906 in Wyoming Co., West Virginia.
