William was born on August 13th, 1728 in ,Louisa Co,Virginia.  William's father was Samuel Thompson and his mother is Temperance UNKNOWN. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named ROBERT, Thomas, Samuel, Joseph, David, John, Asa, Sarah and Elizabeth.  He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 49 on April 27th, 1778 in ,Louisa Co,Virginia.
