In 1815 Samuel's father (James Stone) sold 98 acres in Licking Co.,to him, which bordered his brothers(George). In 1818 Samuel then soldthis land to Abraham Mouser. Then in the 1820's Samuel and family movedto Adams Co.,Ill. A book named "Quincy and Adams County" by Wilcoxrelates how the present day town of Plainville,Ill was orginally namedStone's Prairie. He settled there in 1822. (I was born there in 1931,Ha!) He and his family was who gave it that name. For many years it wasalso know as Shakerag. Much to my surprise, he was a preacher.
