Margaret wrote a short book entitled "M ARGARET STONE, HER BOOK,THOMAS STONE HIS PEN AND HAND" It is an expose on her religiousrevelations and shows the impact of the times. In it she writes: "In theyear 1796 I was courted by three different persons. This is a trialwhich I did not wish to have. Neither did I find it a help toreligion... I thought I would wish to do his will in all things, God onlyknows whether I did or not. I, after a long persuasion, inclined tomarry, Which I did in the year 1797 in Hardy Co., by Mr. Layor, July 2.After this the troubles of life began in another manner. I remain at myfather's house until October 1...I then had to leave all my relations inthe hand of God and take my journey into a strange land where I continueda year at which we returned to our native land.."
George and Margaret lived in Hardy co., until 1811 when they soldtheir land and moved to Woodford co., Ky. They went on to Parke Co., Indwhere Margaret died. George went to Ill as did his children. He died inAdams Co., Ill in 1850 where his will was probated 17 Apr.
The following notation was written in David Johston's (Margaret'sson) bible with the date 29 Apr 1836: "Margaret Stone afterwards the wifeof George Johnston was born 26 May 1773. Margaret Stone Johnston was thethird cousin of President Gearge Washington."
