Thomas, (d. June 11, 1488) was the son of Sir William Sempill. He sat inParliament February 25, 1483 to 1484 and was Sheriff of Renfrew. Histitle was recorded as Thomas Simple, Vicecomes de Renfrew. He fought forKing James III at the Battle of Sauchieburn, between Bannockburn andSterling on June 11, 1488 and was killed. He married Elizabeth(Nov.13,1495, she was still living and was deceased by Nov. 17, 1505),daughter of Lord Ross by whom he had five children:
a son, John, the first Lord Semple,
Margaret, married (1) John Houstoun before 1490 and she was called LadyHoustoun. She later remarried (2) Robert Crawford of Kilbirny about 1500
Marion, who married Sir John Stewart of Glanderstoun
Elizabeth, who married Sir Adam Mure of Caldwell
Christina Hunt calls him "Thomas Sempill of Eliestoun".
