Notes for Christina Praa: Christina was the youngest daughter of Capt. Peter Praa. The father of Capt Praa, [also Peter Praa] , a Huguenot from Dieppe, France, resided in Holland some time, and in 1659 came in ship "Moesman" to this country with his family, consisting of a wife and several children. He settled in Bushwick, Kings County, and there died in 1668. He also owned a large tract in Queens Cty., the site of Long Island City, then known as Dominie's Hook. He also had large tracts in New Jersey and considerable in the city of New York. As the widow of Rev. John Arondius, Christina executed an instument March 7,1793 conveying her real property at Bushwick, and her personal property, to her two surviving children, Jonathan Provost and Catharine [Provost] La Rue. The real property comprised the land, meadow, house, barn and all other buildings where "Peter Praa and his wife used to live upon", provided if either were to sell it would to be to each other so as to keep it in the family.[Recorded April 4,1796;Liber 7 p.4 of Conveyances, Kings Co. N.Y.]
