Elizabeth Praa (daughter of Pieter Jr Praa <UHP-0528.html> and Maria Hay <UHP-0529.html>) was born 1691, and died 1754. She married Jan Meserole <UHP-0591.html>, son of Jan Meserol <UHP-1124.html> and Marytje Covert <UHP-1125.html>. Notes for Elizabeth Praa: Bap NY Dut Ch. Elizabeth inherited through her mother, as a life trust, part of the Bushwick lands devised in 1687 by Christina Cappoens, and from her father, for life and then to her children, "that part of the land bought from Volckertszens adjoining the land I now live on", as well as one-fourth of his residual estate which included land in Middlesex Co., N.J.. All of her inheritance went later to her children. Her husband was in his own right one of the largest land owners of the town of Bushwick. In his will, Feb.5,1756, proved Dec.24,1756, two years after Elizabeth's death, he named all of their ten children. Her husband, as oldest son, inherited the bulk of his father's estate, which included the large "Key Kuyt" farm with its residence on the East River in the town of Bushwick at what later became South Fourth St. in Brooklyn. He also received a farm at Turtle Bay, Manhattan Island, as well as some land near New Brunswick, N.J.. All of their children were born and grew up on the "Key Kuyt" farm.
