John Walter was born in 1868 in Limestone Co., Texas. John Walter's father was Walter Jr. Howell and his mother was Silina Matilda Daniels. His paternal grandparents were Walter Howell and Nancy Ann Lawrence. He had a brother and two sisters, named Dick, Alice and Tannie. He was the second oldest of the four children. He had a half-sister named Martha Rosa. He died at the age of 81 in 1949 in Waureka, Jefferson Co., Oklahoma. He was buried in 1949 in Addington, Oklahoma.-
