Note: "Cousins" who worked on the John Howell d. 1792, Orange Co. N.C. , think that the John Howell d. 1717, Surry Va., may have been his father. Edward Howell and Benjamin Howell were on the adm. bond, when John HOwell d. 1792, Orange Co. N.C.
Edward Howell m. Francis Fanny Stroud. He is believe to be the
father of William Howell b. N.C. d. Tn.
(father of Walter Howell b. in Grainger Co. Tn. m. Nancy Ann Lawrence(Larrance) b, Randolph Co. N.C. 1803,m. Oct. 13, 1823, Jefferson Co. Tn. Her parents: Richard Lawrence(Larrance on quaker records) and Jane Hammond.
Some of the Grainville/Orange Co. N.C. Howell , went over to the Grainger/Jefferson Co. Tn. area.

More Info. on the John Howell fam. who died. 1792, Orange Co. N.C. Info. sent to me from: Virginia Yancey, who worked on the research of all of these "Howell" for many yrs: "It does appear that these "Howells" descended from the following "John Howell", Mar. 12, 1654/5: Walter Brooks, 460 acres CHARLES CITY , VA. Mar. 12, 1654, p. 303 in Bristoll Parish; 160 acres on easterly side of City Creek, north on Appamatuck River, 300 acres running along the head of NATH. TATUMS land and north to the head of john Barkers (or Bakrs) land, 160 acres purchased by JOHN HOWELL of NATH. TATUM SR. and sold to said Brooks, and 300 acs. due for trans of 6 pers.
