James Earl was born on September 12th, 1894 in Arlington, Calhoun Co GA. James Earl's father was William Archibald CARTER and his mother was Nina PRATT. His paternal grandparents were Littleberry Walker CARTER and Maryann Diligente SEALS; his maternal grandfather was James E. PRATT and his maternal grandmother is Sophronia C. COWAN. He had a brother and five sisters, named William Alton, Ethel, Lula, UNKNOWN, UNKNOWN and UNKNOWN. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
