Rodney was born on September 18th, 1742 in Petersburg, Dinwiddie, Virginia. Rodney's father was John II BOLLING and his mother was Elizabeth Bland BLAIR. His paternal grandfather is John Bolling and his paternal grandmother was Mary KENNON; his maternal grandparents were Archibald BLAIR and Sarah ARCHER. He had twelve brothers and eight sisters, named Archibald, William L., Jared, Benjamin, James Thomas, John Blair W., Robert, Rolfe, Edward, Archibald, Powhatan, James, Metoaka, Elizabeth, Martha, Dorothea, Jane, Mary, Sarah and Anne. He was the nineth youngest of the twenty-one children. He died at the age of 36 on November 19th, 1778 in , Henry Co., Va..General Notes
