John II was born in 1772 in , , Fayette Co, Pa. John II's father was John (Old) ASHCRAFT and his mother was Charity Beeson. His paternal grandparents were Daniel Ashcraft and Elizabeth Lewis. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Ezekiel, Amos, Uriah, Ezekiel, Levi, Sarah, Sarah, Elizabeth and Sarah M. He was the third oldest of the ten children.
